Project Zomboid is a survival horror game set in a post-apocalyptic setting where there is no hope for survival. Casual players will struggle as most would usually not survive a week within the game. However, Project Zomboid has cheats to help newer players get comfortable with the game’s challenges. It could also could give unlimited power to those who just want to goof around against the billions of the undead roaming in the world.
Without further ado, here are the cheats you could use in Project Zomboid, both in Single-player and Multiplayer mode.
Enabling Cheats in Project Zomboid
The way to enable cheats in this game is more hidden than you’d think. Here are its steps:
- Open your Steam library
- Right-click Project Zomboid
- Click “Properties,” which should be the last option
- Go to the “General” Section
- You should find a text box at the very bottom, below “Launch Option”
- Type “-debug”
- Exit the window and start the game
And now you have successfully entered the Debug mode which would give you access to the endless cheats within the game. You know you have successfully done this when you see the tab “Scenarios” in the middle of Project Zomboid’s title screen.
Moreover, you could use the Debug mode on a new or an old save file.
Using the Cheat Menu on Project Zomboid
God Mode
This is the cheat that almost everyone looks for when they have Debug mode on. Basically, God Mode makes you invulnerable to anything, including zombies, car crashes, fall damage, and damage from hunger and thirst.

- Click on the Debug Menu (the mosquito icon), which is the last button on the left side of your screen
- Click on “General Debuggers”
- Click “Moodles and Body”

Building
Building and crafting are surprisingly detailed in this game. In fact, some would say that Zomboid’s building gameplay almost has the same amount of detail as Minecraft’s or Animal Crossing’s.
Thus, players who want to make the most out of the game’s building capabilities can take advantage of the Debug Mode. This allows them to build anything they want in the game without a single resource required. As a result, you don’t have to chop down trees, saw down logs, or collect cement to build your dream house in Zomboid.
In short, you simply right-click on any ground tile and click “Metalwork” or “Carpentry.” Choose any object you want to build since the only limit would be your imagination.
Teleport
Thanks to Debug Mode, you can turn Zomboid into an open-world game with the power of the “Teleport” cheat. With this feature, players can familiarize themselves with the layouts of important buildings (e.g., malls, schools, libraries, communities) they want to loot in their vanilla game.
All you have to do is right-click on the ground again, hover over the “Main” option, and click “Teleport.”

Enabling Cheats in Multiplayer
Of course, the game is a hundred times more fun when you can enjoy it with friends. Thankfully, there is a way to use cheats in the Multiplayer mode of Project Zomboid.
First and foremost, you must have admin privileges on the server you will be playing on. Players will have this by default if they are the ones who made the server. But if they didn’t, the admin would have to share their privileges with you.
Once you have admin privileges, you can type any multiplayer cheats in the chat box that’s located at the bottom left of your screen.
