Bryan Times, Monday, November 2, 1998 AREA DEATHS FORT WAYNE, Ind. Lowell W. Scranton, 76, of Fort Wayne, died Saturday, Oct. 31, 1998, at St. Joseph Medical Center.

Born in Farmer, Ohio, on July 16, 1922, to Chloe (Lawton) and Roy Scranton, he retired in 1987 from Fruehauf Trailer after 44 years. He was a Navy veteran of WW 1 II. Surviving are his wife, Isabella two daughters, Rose Ann Scranton and Marie Scranton, both of Fort Wayne; and a sister, Wavel Tonjes of Sherwood, Ohio. There will be no visitation, and a memorial mass will be held at a later date, with entombment in the Catholic Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Bishop Luers High School.

Lockhart, 94, of Montpelier, died Saturday evening, Oct. 31, 1998, in the Harborside Nursing Home, Bryan, where she had been a resident. She was born on Sept. 7, 1904, in Rockford, to Florence and Jacob E. Alpaugh, and married H.E.

Lockhart, who preceded her in death. She was a member of the Bethlehem Christian Union Church in Edon. Surviving are a son, Robert Piper of Bryan; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death besides her parents and husband were a son, two sisters and three brothers. There will be no calling hours.

Services will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. in the Wesley United Methodist Church with the Revs. Dwight Bowers and Casey Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in Shiffler Cemetery near Pulaski. Memorials may be made to the Wesley United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his mother, Myrtle Goodall of Cincinnati; two sons, Roger Herren of Edgerton, Ohio and Keith Herren of Redford, four daughters, Sandra Krontz and Sharon Collins, both of Edgerton, Carol Compagnoni of Farmington, and Patty Hopsin of Angola; one brother, Joe Goodall of Cincinnati; two sisters, Ginny Brown of Cincinnati and Betty Hilliard of Pompano Beach, 16 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred, and two sisters, Rose and Dorothy. A veteran of WWII, he was in the European African Middle Eastern Campaign, serving from 1942 through 1946, receiving two bronze stars, Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign medal and the WW II Victory He was a member of the Sherwood American Legion and VFW.
