At least now I know why Purolator service is so terrible. Is there a government service that doesn't lose money?

With lower household mail volumes, deliveries every 2 days looks like a viable option.

I can’t remember when I received any mail, since going paperless and doing icbc online. Oh yes not getting junk mail.
Any of my packages are sent to my work address, this eliminates theft.

Lol, ya don’t believe everything you read. For a company that’s “losing” so much money they have money to spend on a half billion dollar processing plant, buying millions in carbon credits, paying out bonuses of at least $1,600 to everyone in ANY form of management, and replacing thousands of vehicles.

If management was actually losing this much money, you’d think board members would be fired. Before anyone starts taking drastic measures, maybe a full audit of the finances should be made to see if money is really being lost or if it’s just targets not being met.

Funny how these stories come out as contracts are being negotiated.

From the story.............

“The bottom line is, business is under siege,” Ryder said, pointing to the organization’s $3-billion loss over the past five years.

Not sure how many businesses there are out there, that aren't crown corporations, which can take this kind of loss without something drastic happening, heads rolling, people getting laid off, or something along that line.

Bonuses shouldn't even be a consideration. Outdated rules and mounting losses: Can anything be done to fix Canada Post? (4)

Speaking for myself one day a week of mail delivery would be sufficient, as I don't need the stupid flyers, and only get one or two envelopes of actual mail, with even those often redundant as I've already received an email telling me the same info.

Same here. I can't think of much other than replacement credit cards that I get in the mail.

The last letter mail I got wasn't even needed, because it was to tell me I have an appointment at the hospital in June, which I'd already been informed of through email, and a notice from the my portal app. I honestly don't know why they'd even bother sending a letter, when they have a person's email address, and know the person has the my portal app.

A waste of paper in my opinion.

Step number 1 would be to stop paying people for 8 hours work regardless of whether they work 4 hours or 8 hours. Step number 2 would be to stop accepting bogus WCB claims for heavy lifting and hours of walking from people who simply drive from box to box and stuff them with letters, small packages and flyers.

I think government funded corporations, should start by putting a clause, employees that are unproductive, get three chances to improve within a year.
If they continue being unproductive, they need to let them go.
The biggest problem I have seen over the years, you have those folks that do their job and the ones that spend their time talking, using their cells phones or pretending they don't know anything . Even tho they have been employees for years.
Unions are great but they have to stop protecting the lazy people!

Number 1 - management designs the route to be 480 minutes long. Not everyone takes 8 hours, not everyone can finish in 8 hours. At Christmas time most routes have overtime.

Number 2 - Bogus? You’re a doctor with WCB? WCB is notorious for denying claims, so to say claims are bogus is just ridiculous. Many carriers walk between 14 and 20 km a day on average. If the job is so easy, why do so many quit in the first month!

Legislation needs to be amended to decrease home delivery drastically. Less often delivery, more community super mailboxes and the closure of small post office locations. Even though we are down to maybe receiving 1-2 items per week in our community mailbox, most of those items could be sent digitally or for things such as credit card replacements/renewals to a box at a CP franchise in the local drug store. There is no logical reason for direct home delivery.
