True Detective Season 5 will be set in a place I never imagined and I’m all for it.
Louisiana, California, Ozark Mountains, Alaska and now…New York! Wow, I never expected a True Detective type of story - the sort of crime that could be paranormal-related - to come to the Big Apple. HBO’s Head of Drama Series and Film Francesca Orsi confirmed it with Deadline during an interview. It’s even going to be connected with the previous season (Alaska and the characters therein). In my opinion - nothing has hit that epic climax of the first season but the prospect of being in New York (a mystery of this grandeur in a place with 8.2 million people)? Call me intrigued? What are your thoughts about this developing story detail in True Detective? Interested? Still want Harrelson and McConaughey to come back? Let me know everything in the comments below!

Name a Netflix show which you love but can’t get others into no matter how hard you try.
The only thing keeping me from going stir crazy while studying for my college finals many years ago was taking quick Netflix breaks. Sounds crazy but hear me out - flipping through categories instead of index cards helped me to study a lot better. Anyways, I remember one day for a very specific reason - instead of ever getting back to my studies, I binged through the entire first season of The End of the F***ing World - a British black comedy. Something about finding an escape with your back against a wall really related to me while desperately catching up with my studies, ha-ha. Even though I brought it up to my friends (and well - whoever I knew that had a Netflix subscription), nobody really paid any attention to the show during its first season. It was only after the second did anybody talk about the anthology-like plot. By that time, I moved onto something else, frustrated by The End of the F***ing World’s obscurity within my social circle. Which Netflix show was like this for you

What is your favorite Twilight Zone episode?
Even though the original Twilight Zone series originally aired sixty-five years ago, this science fiction and horror anthology series has become a long-standing pinnacle of small screen entertainment. Other shows have come and gone (including TZ revivals) that have not even come close to the black and white Rod Serling creation. In saying that, which episode was your favorite? I watched all of them with my dad when I was younger, so my pick would be a season one classic - “Time Enough At Last”. He has time now, but without his sight . . . it all means nothing.
Were you disappointed by The Bear Season 3?
What did you think of The Bear's third season? It seems like, for most viewers, it didn't live up to the first two, and I have to agree. However, I think the 58% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes is far below what it should be, even if it was a divisive season. Season 1 and 2 both sat at 92% and 93%, respectively, with audiences, so to drop so low is an overreaction, at least in my opinion. What did you like or dislike about The Bear Season 3? What was your favorite episode? Mine was the season's debut episode, "Tomorrow," as it was so different from what we had seen before, and it was the perfect start.

What's your wildest fan theory about Severance?
The long-awaited second season of Severance is now about halfway through, and it has been a whirlwind. After the explosive events of episode four, the fan theories have only become more elaborate. From theories about what the goats are really for to the meaning behind the water droplet in Lumen's logo, there's a ton of speculation among fans of the show. Many of us clocked Helly R. really being Helena from the first episode of the season. With that now officially confirmed, fans wonder if she was just obtaining intel about the innies, or if she was envious of her innie's connection with Mark S. Irving's outtie going through reintegration is also a popular theory, but what's yours?

After all these years, would you go to see Lethal Weapon 5 if it was made?
In March 1987, we had the first Lethal Weapon. Then we got 2,3,4 and, lastly, a television series in 2016. According to Mel Gibson himself (who starred in the movies alongside Danny Glover) on a podcast last year - the script has been completed, and he is going to direct the fifth movie in the franchise, Glover is going to come back, and they’re going to be tackling some hard-hitting issues. But let’s be honest - it’s been twenty-seven years since the last one and this new entry hasn’t even been filmed yet. How much would it need to be retooled given the new and modern times we live in? Would audiences accept it? Would you want to see Gibson and Glover back on the big screen? Let me know in the comments below!

Do you like the way Karl Urban’s Johnny Cage is looking for Mortal Kombat 2?
After the first Mortal Kombat had an impressive showing (even during the pandemic), Warner Brothers greenlit the sequel back in 2022. For two years or so, audiences only got to know about names attached to the project, like actors, actresses and directors. But that all stopped recently! In a poster that mimics action movies of the 80s and 90s, Karl Urban’s Johnny Cage is highlighted front and center - a character that many video game fans have been dying to see on the big screen. In my opinion, the character doesn’t look as refined as in the games, but I really think Urban will make up for it with his portrayal of an obnoxious character, haha. What do you think of Karl Urban’s Cage? Let me know in the comments below!

Give me an example of a perfect horror movie!
I was rewatching some of the Annabelle films the other day (don’t ask me why) - and maybe it’s because I knew what was coming - but after a while, the scares turned into laughter. Seeing a doll terrify people has just become a joke for me. I think I need to reboot my fear. What’s the most perfect horror movie that you can think of? A captivating story, great acting, a fake tone that pulls you in and a fearful entity that makes you wish the movie was over already? Not too much blood though. That makes me more squeamish than anything else. Let me know in the comments below - I’d love to see what you have to say.

What's a movie you feel got snubbed at the Oscars this year?
As with every awards season, there has been a lot of discourse online about which movies did and did not receive Oscar nominations. AfterAnoratook home Best Picture at the Critics' Choice Awards and the controversy surrounding AI use in The Brutalist and the constant backlash against Emilia Perez, there doesn't even appear to be a solid front-runner for Best Picture at the Oscars this year. Luca Guadagnino's Challengers received zero nominations, to the surprise and frustration of many movie lovers. Some of the acting nominations felt a bit out of place as well. Given the turbulence of this awards season, which movies do you feel were ignored by the Academy this year?

What's a horror performance that should have been nominated at the Oscars?
The Academy has notoriously ignored the horror genre for the 97 years they have been hosting the ceremony. While some horror movies have received nominations over the years, they have mostly been in technical categories. Only six horror films have been nominated for Best Picture: The Exorcist, Jaws, Black Swan, The Silence of the Lambs, The Sixth Sense, and Get Out. The only horror film to actually win Best Picture was The Silence of the Lambs. Not only is it the only one to win Best Picture, it's the only one to sweep the top five categories (Best Director, Best Actress, Best Actor, and Best Adapted Screenplay. This year, the Academy nominated satirical body horror masterpiece The Substance for a whopping five categories, including Best Picture and Best Actress. Nosferatu and Alien: Romulus also received nominations, so it seems the Academy is finally taking horror seriously. This is a huge stepping stone for the genre, but which performances do you think should have been nominated in

What is your favorite Liam Neeson movie?
Actor Zachary Levi recently sat down with Movieweb to talk about his latest film, Hotel Tehran. During this sit down, he went into co-star Liam Neeson’s balance of acting behaviors."He definitely has that aspect that we've all come to know . . . but he's [also] a sweetheart of a guy”. Let’s be honest - that same persona is evident in his movies. He’ll talk to his friends in the kindest of ways, but when it’s time he’ll also blow bad guys’ brains out, haha. In explaining all of this, what is your favorite Liam Neeson movie? Mine has to be 2015’s Run All Night. It has an average rating from critics, but I personally found his depiction of Jimmy Conlon more fun than any other role he’s been in.

What are your favorite unconventional Valentine's Day movies?
Valentine's Day is the holiday of love and affection. While there are plenty of incredible romance films, such as In the Mood for Love or Before Sunrise, some of us need a break from the woes of tragic romance. If you still want to get into the Valentine's Day mood, there are many unconventional movies featuring romance that will satiate your need for something different. Your Monster, Bones and All, and Crimson Peakall feature romance in very unconventional ways. If you're someone who likes their Valentine's Day watchlist to feature some thrills, what are some unusual movies you would recommend?

Masters of the Universe: is this franchise worth revisiting?
Now, I’m a 90s kid, so I’m not going to sit here and say I was a loyal follower of the He-Man and the Masters of the Universe cartoon from the late 80s. But I do remember seeing reruns of it from time and time and noticing the difference in quality to my more current animations. Now, I also know that there are a couple of He-Man, She-Ra and Masters of the Universe series on Netflix which gained a little traction when they were first released. But a live action movie? With casting announcements pushing their way into headline space? I’m all for revisiting beloved franchises after a good while has passed, but does Masters of the Universe still have a viable audience? You tell me! Let me know in the comments if you’re excited about this reboot!

With three Marvel movies slated for release this year, is it an exciting time to be an MCU fan?
After the global success of Deadpool & Wolverine, the only MCU movie to be released last year, it felt like Marvel Studios was headed back to the glory days. There's no denying the MCU has faltered since the release of Avengers: Endgame almost six years ago. With the exception of Spider-Man: No Way Home, many Marvel fans have felt that the MCU has lost its magic since Endgame. Since the official trailers for TheFantastic Four: First Steps and Thunderbolts* have dropped, hype about the MCU's future is starting to gain traction again. Especially as Captain America: Brave New World is about to hit theaters this weekend. Is it once again exciting to be an MCU fan?

In honor of A Different World now streaming on Netflix, what’s your favorite episode?
Finally! A Different World is streaming somewhere! The spin-off of The Cosby Show was airing all the time in my house when it was on BET. I remember so many episodes, like when Dwayne got married to Whitley right after she stopped her proceeding ceremony, the L.A. riots episode and the entire first season with Lisa Bonet and Marisa Tomei - those first episodes were actually my favorite. I could rewatch those all the time. What were your favorite episodes of A Different World? Let me know in the comments below!

Do you think Tobin Bell is too old to do another Saw movie?
Jigsaw has easily become a horror genre icon. While not all 10 movies feature the engineer / serial killer, there is definitely something perfect seeing actor Tobin Bell in that part. But in saying that - a new report by Scream Magazine (which was covered by our own Jonathan Fuge) says that besides financial problems looming at Lionsgate, Bell is now 81 years old, and the same vigor might not come across the camera to moviegoers. I personally call malarkey on that - people like William Shatner and Betty White were working on their own accord well into their senior years. A senior citizen serial killer? I’m all in, haha. What do you think? Want to see a new Saw movie with Tobin Bell? Let me know in the comments below!

Are you impressed with the new Thunderbolts trailer?
On February 9th, a new - and improved - Thunderbolts trailer was released. We got a look at the movie’s main villain, Sentry (as well as his other half called The Void) and quick, jump-cut introductions for the characters on the team - Yelena, Bucky, John Walker, Red Guardian, Ghost and Taskmaster. Personally, I felt like the trailer was entertaining and I’m certainly interested in the possible chaos caused by Sentry ....but the whole thing wasn’t mindblowing. You have to remember that this was directed by a mostly-TV guy, so I’m wondering if that’s the reason why I’m not entirely pulled in. The cinematics are just not there. What do you think? Are you rushing to go see Thunderbolts*? Let me know in the comments below!

Are you thrilled or terrified that Buffy The Vampire Slayer is returning?
Just a few days ago, Sarah Michelle Gellar put the most exciting news on her IG. Buffy The Vampire Slayer is finally near a reboot on Hulu! While I am excited because this gives me a reason to revisit the original series....the first show lasted for seven seasons. Will this Sunnydale continuation last just as long or will it be shelved just as fast as other reboots? Hulu may not be the best place for such a series. Buffy has a fandom as strong as anything else, so there's no problem there, but it needs new viewers as well - maybe, just maybe the Disney Plus packages will help with that (let's not forget Disney Plus lost 700,000+ subs recently). Before I get ahead of myself - what do you think? Are you thrilled or terrified about Buffy The Vampire Slayer returning? Tell me in the comments below!

What do you think of Jason Statham’s latest movie trailer?
From the director of Suicide Squad, Jason Statham is A Working Man. That's the name of the movie! Statham plays Levon Cade, an ex-Royal Marines commando who is a construction worker that gets called upon by his boss to find his missing daughter. Personally, I'd watch an action movie with this star any day, but also the trailer feels different from other Statham movies I've watched. The color grading feels different. It also feels like there is just more within the visuals, more detail in every scene. What do you think? Are you excited about A Working Man? (the full trailer is on YouTube.)
