Dr. King served as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict.

He was a 32nd Degree Mason (Charity Relief Lodge No. 72; Mystic CT), Shriner for the Bahia Temple and a member of the Scottish Rite. He was a Florida licensed psychologist, a member of the FL and American Psychological Sigma XI (Scientific Research Society of North America) and the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society.
